The Black Report is a satirical weekly round-up of the news written and produced by controversial audio team, John Vlismas and Duncan Harling. The quality of their fictional news is said to beat even the actual news desks of South Africa, nevermind the slew of poor imitators.
The segment is created from news carried in the papers on the day it is written, then recorded, packaged and delivered, all within hours of the first typed word, ensuring the freshest possible spoof available.
The boys have been at it for years, first online as kungnews, then Jou Ma Se Nuus on Jacaranda’s Breakfast Show – the Black Report is also now available on The Daily Maverick.
The team has won no awards, but has had several charges laid against them by the Broadcast Complaints Commission, which they feel is far more impressive.
