international acts

Whacked is hearing a lot about big international acts being booked to visit SA during the second half of 2012. Most of the bigger promoters have made enquiries for US headline acts, so keep an eye out for details in the press.
This activity proves that local comedy audiences are proving their appetite to usually risk-averse promoters.

Having said that, local acts continue to become bolder too, with more than one home grown arena tour currently being advertised.

“I think we’re seeing the next level in growth for comedy in SA. We’ve always said at Whacked that in order to grow the comedy business, you need to invest in developing audiences, not just acts. This is paying off, and the truth is that SA loves comedy, and is much more supportive of local stand-up than films, for example – and so we’re doing all we can to make sure we don’t disappoint,” says Taffia Keight.
